You don’t have to go far to cure your craving for a juicy burger. Located across the street from the Royal Pacific Motor Inn is an unassuming spot that was a favorite of Anthony Bourdain’s called Sam’s that all locals know is the best burger in town. We would give you their website address, but this place is only for those in the know and they have all the business they need, so they don’t have one.

mama’s on washington square - 1701 Stockton Street

For over 50 years, Mama’s has been operated by the same family and always as “Mama Sanchez” taught her children, “all day and with a smile.” The outstanding omelettes, Mama’s Benedicts, French toast, and homemade jams have locals lining up early to get a seat. If you sleep in late in one of our comfy beds and crave a burger instead, they’ve got you covered. Pro tip - grab a newspaper at the Royal Pacific front desk in case you have to wait in line.
